Feb 23: My reply.

Alex,

Once again I spoke with Capital One's technical support and they told me there were no special OFX credentials to use when logging in.

I think the bottom line is that when you select New Account -> Credit Card -> Capital One bank, MS Money should be accessing Capital One's Credit Card services at servicing.capitalone.com rather than their online banking at onlinebanking.capitalone.com.

Capital One Online Banking:
https://onlinebanking.capitalone.com/capitalone/login.aspx

Capital One Online Banking for Credit Cards:
https://servicing.capitalone.com/c1/login.aspx

Like I said earlier, these two services are completely independent of one another (as confirmed by Capital One tech support). For example, at Capital One's website, I can successfully use my login information for Online Banking for Credit Cards, but not for Online Banking because they are two different services.

Therefore, since Money tries to use Online Banking for my credit card account, my login information will not work. Money should instead be accessing Online Banking for Credit Cards.

Thank you for looking into this issue. I just baught and installed MS Money 2007 Deluxe and am having the same problem with my CapitalOne account (which I also just opened). From doing a quick google search on the matter, I see now that many other users are experiencing the same issue. I hope that you will be successful in working with MS Money Tech support in resolving this problem. I'll be following your blog to see what comes of it. Thank you for your hard work!

Thanks for all of your really hard work. I hope you are still pushing forward on this issue. Did you have any luck posting in the Yodlee forums? It seems like the problem is on Money's side. Hopefully we can find some sort of work around for the incorrect web site address. Thanks!

I've been running the tech support gauntlet with microsoft since Feb 17. I got this from them today:

This is John with Microsoft Money Technical Support. It was a real pleasure to work with you on the issue with Microsoft Money, unfortunately we were not able to establish a resolution.

I contacted the Capital One FI( Financial Institution) regarding the issue about special sign-in information, they do not offer direct online banking for credit cards for Microsoft Money or Quicken, what they have available for credit card customers is a feature that is in their website, where it allows the customer to download account information for up to 6 months.

Customer has to sign in to www.CapitalOne.com go to the credit cards section and select the services tab, from there, select download statements selecting Money or Quicken and import into Money.

That is the resolution that Capital One has for Credit Card customers.

The Number that I called is (866) 750-0873 Capital One Technical Support and (877) 442-3764 Capital One Customer Service.

At this time, I am closing your case and noting that your issue has not been resolved. If you have any further questions pertaining to this particular support incident, simply respond to this message and we will follow up with you as soon as possible.

I am including the Microsoft Support site which contains a list of support options available to our customers:

Thank you for choosing Microsoft.

I've got a more definitive answer from Microsoft on this issue. Looks to be Capital One's problem for the time being. From Microsoft:

----

"We have recently determined what is exactly going on with Capital One customers that only have credit cards, as it became a known issue. Unfortunately as of right now the only way customers like you can get your accounts updated at the present time is by signing into the Capital One Credit Card site and downloading the web statement and importing it into Money, as I you mentioned.

Capital One has an OFX service within Money, listed as Capital One Bank, like you said, that is available for customers that have either just bank accounts or both bank accounts and credit cards which is why this Bank name is available on both the bank and credit card list of FI choices. In other words only Capital One customers that have both bank accounts and credit cards which are enabled for Online Services within Money can get downloads into Money for their credit cards. Credit card only customers cannot use this bank name to get their account downloads.

Capital One has chosen not to support credit card only customers in their OFX feed. Money and MSN Money used to have a FI name of Capital One which was a Yodlee feed for credit card only customers. However due to changes on the Capital One’s website, we needed to remove this bank for now. The Money Group is working with Yodlee to hopefully get this Financial Institution, Capital One, supported again at which time it will re-appear on the Bank or Brokerage list for credit cards."

----

So it looks like we're either waiting for Yodlee to rebuild a feed for Capital One's new interface, or we're waiting on Capital One to offer an OFX feed to non-banking customers.

I am having this same problem and I am happy to find out I am not the only one. Thank you for all your hard work and keep up the good fight!

Did anything ever come of this? I'm still having the same problem today trying to get my Cap One card in there.

This is still a problem for my CapitalOne card. I can't believe it has been this long without resolution.

Google currently tells me the following:
1) The problem appears to be on CapitalOne's side.

2) CapitalOne does not currently offer direct download for MS money/Quicken for credit card-only customers. They do for banking (as we all know). The only way to download transactions for credit card-only customers is to download them from CapitalOne's website.

This is retarded. CapitalOne needs to fix this and offer direct download for Money and Quicken. It's 2009, right? C'mon - wake up, Capital One!

Let's not forget that they take in, at least, 2% from every purchase we make via merchant fees.
